These factors, together, mean that employers in the skilled trades
have a massive vested interest in providing the safest working
environment possible for their employees. You’ll even often see
skilled trades employers touting their glowing OSHA safety record
because that type of achievement is viewed as a huge feather in
the cap of the skilled trades.
Bottom line, while many jobs in the skilled trades do involve
potentially dangerous responsibilities, there is an enormous buy-in
from regulators, trainers, educators, employers, and workers alike
to create the safest work environment possible. This focus and
investment across the board helps make even some of the “most
dangerous jobs” not so dangerous at all.
